About the centre

The Centre is located in the education district of Lusikisiki and shares the main infrastructure with the district office. It is situated at the Old Lusikisiki College of Education just off the R61 road, about 2km from town.

Since 2014 the Centre serves two sub-districts, Lusikisiki and Flagstaff, covering a total of 227 schools both high schools and junior secondary Schools. Lusikisiki delivers the curriculum in a more dynamic way, exposing learners to new styles of curriculum delivery through use of ICT materials.

Vision
To provide 21st Century ICT skills to teachers, learners, district officials, subject advisors, youth in the community and other departmental officials to improve quality in education.

Mission
With available resources in the centre and well developed and dedicated ICT officials, all ICT skills will be acquired and objectives attained.

Values
Our vision and mission are based on the departmental e-Education policies to raise standards in literacy, numeracy and ICT in line with the national curriculum. The main aim is to improve learner performance through ICT integration and to expose our schools to a new ICT environment in education.

 

Functions of the Teacher Centre

  • To provide:
    • A designated space to train teachers on how to integrate ICT in teaching and learning.
    • Equipment and access to educational content.
    • Connectivity to all the users to search information.
  • To act as a hub for information with e-Books provided.
  • To build successful relationships with schools and the various local communities to develop and deliver exciting education initiatives which will help inspire the pupils and teachers to achieve their learning goals.
  • To create an ongoing ICT services, advocacy and future planning.
  • To contribute to the implementation of the plan on Teacher Development
  • To act efficiently and prudently to ensure that values are promoted.

  • Microsoft Partners in Learning Teacher Professional Development
  • Out of school youth within the Centre community
  • Thutong Portal and Vodacom Digital Classroom
  • Homework and research support for learners grade 10-12
  • Application to FET colleges and universities
  • Career guidance programmes
