About the Centre

The Ekurhuleni North Teacher Development Centre is managed from the Office of the District Director, Ekurhuleni North District and is affectionately known to some as the Benoni Brakpan Teacher Training Centre.

The Centre is entrusted with the responsibilities of ensuring that all educators in the District are given good quality educational workshops/trainings that will translate into effective teaching and learning taking place in the classroom. The Centre's employees are aware that Education is urgent by its very nature, and in the execution of their duties will always be Friendly, Firm and Fair.

The Centre provides service to 260 public and independent schools from the following areas: Actonville, Benoni, Bedfordview, Daveyton, Elandsfontein, Edenvale, Germiston, Kempton Park, Petit, Tembisa and Wattville.

The Centre has the following staff members under its employ:

Programmes offered at the Centre include the following:

  • Provide venue for Supplementary exams Grade 12 NSC.
  • Basic AET Literacy skills classes attended at the centre.
  • Information Sharing Sessions/Workshops on CPTD Management System.
  • Advocacy on National Teaching Awards processes and procedures.
  • Recruitment Campaign for Fundza Lushaka Bursary Scheme.
  • Provides venues for District Management Team meetings.
  • Provides venues for Subject Cluster meetings
  • Provides venues for Portfolio Moderation
  • Serve as distribution venue for lesson plans and any other relevant resource materials to schools.
  • Provides venue for all Parental programmes run in the District
  • Provides venue for vulnerable children workshops or seminars offered

 

Opening hours

The Centre operates from 08h00 to 16h30, Monday to Friday.
On Saturdays the Centre only opens in case of emergencies and through prior arrangements.
The Centre is closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
