Girls Empowerment

Learning Centre empowers Girls through DigiGirlz Programme

Last week 60 girls from Lofentse Girls High School took part in a DigiGirlz programme at the Orlando Pirates Learning Centre. DigiGirlz is a Microsoft programme that gives high school girls the opportunity to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees, and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops. The programme in partnership with Microsoft and School Net is for young ladies (grade 9-11) who have an interest in technology.

Mediation of e-Content for School Year 2017

The Mediation of e-Content for School Year  2017

The e-Learning Directorate has planned training sessions on:

  1. LED Smartboard usage (how to use the the device to deliver lessons)
  2. Accessing e-Content (e-Books) and how to best use them for the benefit of the big audience - the classroom .
  3. Accessing Multmedia content (Audio-visual materials and videos) to enhance teaching and learning.
  4. Tablet usage in the lesson delivery situation.

Teachers from the 30 full ICT Schools will be grouped into subject offerings, e.g. Mathematics, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences and their session takes place in Room 28, on 6 December - 8 December 2016.

The other groups will be informed of their session in early January 2017.

Digify Bytes

40 young adults attended the Orlando Pirates Learning Centre for the day to learn about digital marketing and to empower themselves in an aim to becoming more employable.

Digify Bytes is a one day training programme aimed at giving thousands of young learners and job seekers a short, sharp shot of digital marketing skills. The programme is delivered by young digital professionals. Digify Bytes is designed to open a new world of opportunities, where digital skills provide an advantage—both personally and professionally.
