Africa! Ignite is one of KwaZulu-Natal’s leading rural development agencies. We use our extensive rural footprint to partner with communities, so that they can participate fairly in the economy and society, and make their voices heard. Our programmes help women and youths to earn a decent living; develop sustainable enterprises; learn usable skills; tell their stories; protect their health and environment; and improve their quality of life.

 

Africa! Ignite provides holistic support to about 1 000 crafters across KwaZulu-Natal’s impoverished heartland with its broken terrain, poor infrastructure, very high unemployment and high incidence of HIV/AIDS. Siyafunda CTC provides information through our community knowledge centres, where people can access computers, the internet, and other digital technologies that enable them to gather information, create, learn, and communicate with others while they develop essential digital skills.

The focus is on the use of digital technologies to support community, economic, educational, and social development — reducing isolation, bridging the digital divide, promoting health issues, creating economic opportunities, and reaching out to youth.
