The solution is designed for all learners, from Grade 0 to students completing their MBAs, and provides rich, interactive learning material, like books, exam papers, instruction videos and podcasts.

Intel's, Turkey Middle East and Africa Business Development Regional Manager, Cigdem Ertem, says the aim of the Explore and Learn Marketplace solution is to provide a resource hub where learners can find relevant content to enrich their studies while at the same time providing content providers acces to a platform enabling them to easily share their rich learning content. The solution is introduced in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa containing content matching each country's education curriculum.

The user-friendly and interactive learning experience is the result of the collaboration between Intel and Rancard, an African-based organisation that provides cloud-based software for mobile content discovery and delivery.

Digital education collaboration

The introduction of the Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace solution represents another step in Intel's foray into digital education, with Ertem saying the company is continually looking for ways to partner and collaborate with government, educational institutes and content creators. Currently South African content providers on the platform include Mindset, Siyavula and E-Classroom and the content is compiled in close collaboration with the Department of Basic Education. .

"As a company that's been active in the education space for the last 40 years globally, we've seen how technology can drive clearly improved learning results and assist teachers by providing access to information and quality engaging content," said Ertem. "We're well aware of the challenges our education system faces. Through this solution, we're aiming to empower the youth, learners and students of South Africa to improve their knowledge and build skills, and in the process, change their lives."

Ertem said Intel Explore and Learn was designed to benefit all members of the education community, including teachers and parents. "We hope educators will find this app of as much use as the students, and use it reinforce their teaching. Technology itself will never be the solution; it is just a tool to help teachers empower our students."

How to

Both teachers and learners can gain access to the Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace solution on Android or Windows devices with an internet connection. Simply visit this page to access the app download page. Once the app is downloaded, you can find and acquire free and paid for textbooks, instructional videos and exam preparation materials.

The Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace solution itself is not a big download size. Once the solution is downloaded the content is downloaded as needed by the user. This strategy aims to minimise the file sizes of downloads for learners, which helps to keep bandwidth costs low. Downloaded study material remains easily accessible offline at any time on the device it is downloaded on.
