Medo logo small30 November 2016 – At a Space Trek Bootcamp in Cape Town a team of 14 South African high school girls have designed and built the payload for Africa’s first private satellite to be launched in May 2017. Space Trek is part of the Medo Space drive to get young women engaged in STEM subjects.

Many of the Academy’s trainees and graduates employ their newly learned skills to assist schools in their area with IT support and training teachers and learners. SolarChallenge-logo3 October 2016 - Last Saturday 11 teams from all over the world crossed the Sasol Solar Challenge finish line in Cape Town after successfully driving just over 27,000 kilometres collectively on public roads on solar power alone. Five South African teams, including one high school team, held their own against the tough international competition.

DST16 August 2016 - Innovative use of information and communication technology (ICT) to accurately predict drought-stricken environments proved a winning formula for a young Free State researcher who walked away with top honours at the annual Women in Science Awards (WISA) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
