About the centre 

The Professional Teacher Development Institute (PTDI) is situated in Kimberley. It used to operate as the Kimberley Teacher Centre. It serves the school community, departmental officials and the broader community.

ICT Integration Vision: To create a digital knowledge-based society in the Northern Cape by 2021.

Mission

  • To accelerate the development of 21st century skills and application of ICTs in support of curriculum delivery, learning outcomes and academic achievement in the Northern Cape.
  • To strengthen teacher development and improve performance through:
    1. Continuous professional teacher development (CPTD) through short, medium and long-term accredited courses.
    2. Integration of Technology (E-learning) in the classroom

ICT Integration Pathway speaks to all teachers across all grades, phases and subjects.

To ensure that teachers can infuse ICT confidently and creatively in the facilitation of curriculum delivery.

It will not replace existing pedagogy but rather augment, enrich, transform and extend current pedagogy in the classroom.
