About the centre

Hammarsdale District Teacher Development Centre (HDTDC) is in KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (KZNDoE), under Umhlathuzana Circuit (Pinetown District).

HDTDC is a hub of information, materials and services in different formats. The centre was established with an aim to support the teaching and learning processes with an appropriate range of resources that are well managed and made available to all users.

HDTDC also creates various specific programmes and opportunities to develop a repertoire of knowledge and skills for the development and enrichment of primary and secondary users within the proximity of the centre, Mpumalanga and Inchanga Wards with 73 schools.

Primary users are teachers, learners, district, provincial, national education officials and other educational stakeholders from different spheres.
Secondary users come from the community at large around the centre.

The centre established a vision, mission and values that are line with that of the Department of Education to ensure that the objectives are considered and effectively implemented.

The centre ensures that flyers, pamphlets and booklets are sent out to schools to inform them about equipment, resources and activities available at the centre. Invitations are being sent out to invite or inform relevant people about training that takes place in the centre.
