About the centre

The centre is situated in the heart of an economically disadvantaged community under Umtshezi Municipality in Estcourt.

The centre was developed in 2014 for the purpose of supporting the effective implementation and enrichment of the curriculum and serve as a hub to improve the delivery of services to rural communities.

The centre offers a variety of services and and resources which are all under national and provincial continuing professional development programmes made available for teachers, SMT, learners and community members.

For teachers:

The centre is easily accessible to teachers and district officials. Activities that are conducted for them include workshops for all subjects and grades, computer training, meetings. SBA induction, moderations and memo discussions.

For learners:

Activities for learners include Grade 12 weekend, winter & spring classes, intervention programmes, the Science and Maths Olympiad and outreach programmes from Ushaka Marine World and the Girls Guides and Scouts.

For community:

The centre offers various courses for the community including Microsoft Digital Literacy, Basic Computer Training as well as Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) classes.
