About the centre

We are situated in the township of Atamelang, next to the small dorpie of Delareyville, in the Northwest Province.

Centre objectives
The centre is determined to achieve, but not limited to the following strategic objectives:

  • To ensure the leverage of Institutional Curriculum Support to institution based educators.
  • To ensure the effective functionality and performance of learning institutions.
  • To render Institutional Management and Development Support to learning institutions.
  • To ensure the implementation of literacy and skills development programmes/ projects.


Atamelang EDSC supports all forms of education including:

  • Department of Education staff: Circuit Managers – SAMAS Training, DDD Dashboard training, principals meetings and workshops
  • Teachers: Use the centre for research and preparations for lesson plans, training and meeting, access internet
  • Principals: Get training on SAMS, DDD Dashboard, ICT workshops practical and policy
  • Learners: After school learning and research, internet usage and studying
  • Out of school youth:2nd Chance Matric Support classes, internet access, photocopying and binding

We support 82 schools around the centre in 4 education circuits.


Our facilities

  • A Unisa computer lab fully furnished with 31 laptops, projector, printer, interactive white board, teleconferencing facilities, fast Vodacom internet facilities (capacity 30 people)
  • Two lecture halls (capacity 30 people each)
  • Library
  • A boardroom


Our programmes and service

  • Computer literacy programme for the community
  • Accredited course with Unischool - 4 Modules, Ms Word (5 days), Excel (5 days), Powerpoint (5 days), internet and emailing (2 days). R300 per module – 5 days a module.
  • Internet service – R10 per hour surfing for the community
  • Distribution of e-content and educational software to schools
  • ICT training for teachers - Tablet training and other ICT equipment like eBeam, Interactive whiteboard, internet
    SAMS training for AA's - DDD dashboard, Valistractor, SAMS patch installations for changes to the SAMS programme, Surveys – SNAP, ANNUAL PASS and FAIL
  • Youth development programmes
  • Curriculum support
  • ICT technical support to schools - our technician do repairs and installations to school for free, community members pay a little depending on the diagnosed problem
  • Venue for workshops and meetings
