Vodacom Digital Classroom Resources

The Vodacom Digital Classroom website provides information on all Teacher Centres that are part of the Mobile Education Programme. A news feed offers the latest news on education in South Africa.

To support the teacher training provided at the Teacher Centres, the Digital Classroom provides a wealth of web-based resources and teaching material for educators to access on the internet, presented in an accessible and attractive way.

The resources currently on offer include:

An extensive collection of resources with a focus on how to integrate ICT in maths and science education. Experts like Casme, Siyavula and the University of Pretoria have contributed relevant material. The Mobile Education webinars show how to teach curriculum aligned topics in a series of recorded webinars and blogs.

This section offers a selection of Department of Basic Education publications on teacher development policies and the SACE CPTD Management System. In addition it includes material for teacher coaching and mentoring and professional development material from partners Intel and Mindset.

Mobile Education partners Department of Basic Education, Macmillan Education, Mindset Learn and Via Afrika offer a wide range of study guides for learners in grades 10, 11 and 12. Subjects covered include Accounting, Mathematics, Science, Economics, Life sciences and English.

To improve the performance of South African learners in the first grades of learning or Early Childhood Development (ECD) the Department of Basic Education has created and distributed digital ECD resources including workbooks, worksheets and videos in all South African languages.

This category includes a wide variety of resources: from the EnviroTeach editions that assist in teaching climate change and Teaching tips to Intel Learn for Communities and Entrepreneurs. It is also home to the Reading corner where a collection of Fundza books and Nal'ibali stories can be found.

Growing a reading nation is one of the country's objectives for the next years. One of the ways to achieve this objective is to broaden access to libraries and books using technology. In addition to the e-Libraries in 81 Teacher Centres nationwide, the Digital Classroom offers stories, tips and relevant news for reading on phones and tablets.
